La Buche in Quebec City

Great breakfast! Came here with our 1 year old and they took great care of us. Our daughter ate everything! Very happy little customer. Beautiful outdoor patio in back as well.

Cute place, friendly staff, great stout on tap, and rabbit wings to die for. Seriously, one of the best things I have ever eaten. Will be back just for those!

I always thought you couldn't show a home-grown Quebecker how to do a sugar shack meal right. I always thought it was a static thing that couldn't be changed. Well, color me surprised and color me wrong because this place is exactly what I wanted from a Quebec experience. The place looks like a northern chalet, up to the bathroom, "becosse" style. The food feels like high quality sugar shack food and that's a compliment. A must to visit to experience pure Quebec.

Simple sugar shack/quebec food perfectly made!! The poutine maison with ground pork is extremely good. Perfect service and very nice and creative interior design.Can’t wait to come back. Family friendly (been there with my kids 5, 6, 11).👌

Absolutely loved this Quebecoise restaurant! The food was amazing and coming from NYC the food was actually pretty affordable. We ordered 5 dishes because we were really hungry. Our favorite dish was the french onion soup with bone marrow. The soup was amazing and mixing the bone marrow into the soup made all the better! The decor is so cool too with sleds and snowshoes on the ceiling. I would definitely come back here again!

Loved this restaurant. Overall it was a great experience. Our server (Emily) was awesome and very attentive. The atmosphere was really cool. Feels like you are in a log cabin. It is right in old town Quebec so it's convenient to get to if you are in the old Quebec area. Reservations are probably a good idea as it did get busy when we are there. The washroom Setup downstairs is really cool. We all enjoyed the dishes we had. Most of then have some type of pork (bacon, sausage etc) but there are some options if you don't eat pork. Would definitely visit this place again

Exactly as described. A real "after skiing" or "apres ski" experience. Servers are dressed in casual clothes, plaids and buffalo plaids, jeans, loafers, etc. Food is served in a variety of ways including in a skillet or a cafeteria tray. At the end, grab a stick with maple on ice...cool experience ☺️

The onion soup was so rich and tasty! And the corn in the sheppards pie was the best we’ve ever had! Overall an amazing dinner and great drinks!

Exceeded our expectations! One of the best brunches we’ve ever had. I had the smoked salmon crepe with goat cheese and my husband had the rabbit and waffles. Yum.

The food and service here was OUTSTANDING! The food had lots of flavor and was delicious. And I give a special shout out to our waiter, Charles (The one who kind of looks like Gerard Pique for all the soccer fans) for allowing me and my child to make a "maple taffy on snow " desert, and to sample it ourselves! All in all, La Buche is a fine place to dine.

Very interesting atmosphere and a lot of cool stuff to look at. The waitress was very nice and spoke great English. The waffles were good, but there was way to much chocolate sauce. The bacon they have there is amazing! Very tender, Smokey and a little bit sweet. I would defiantly revisit. Also they have a very cool bathroom!

Wow probably the best French food we have ever tasted. This restaurant was recommended to us by the local and became the highlight of our trip to Quebec City ! #vegetarian style poutine is to die for! #maplefrenchtoast was made to perfection and we just couldn’t stop praising the hospitality and comfort of this beautiful restaurant.

Great service and great food, their rabbit wings is a must try. Main dishes could be better as they are no different from others. Dessert is too sweet for Asian stomach

Crazy big portions amazing time!

We reserved a table for 13 for breakfast and everyone one of us enjoyed our meal thoroughly! The chef even came out and photo-bombed a picture with us! It was our favorite restaurant in Quebec City

Very interesting interior decor. Especially the bathroom in downstairs. I didn’t post bathroom pictures here. I left imagination to you. The home made smoke salmon was really good. I never thought to combine blueberries and strawberries with smoke salmon. The French onion soup is different arrangement with the soup in Paris. But my friend said she actually likes the French onion soup at La Buche.

It really is traditional Quebec food, from the cabane a sucre to the taffee on the snow, you'll just love it!

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the french toast and the crepes, both my husband and I were a bit apprehensive when we first saw the dishes drenched in sauce thinking it was going to be too sweet but both were absolutely delicious!!! The caramel sauce on both were so amazing, not too sweet, just delicious. So glad the waitress suggested a side of housemade bacon with both dishes, the bacon was one of the best we've had. Wish we could go again before we leave.

We were late for the dinner reservation but they still managed to give us a seat even though the restaurant was so busy at that time (Christmas 2018).The food is really great but the sauce they're using for the ribs, steak and sausage were kinda the same? Maybe it's their signature sauce but, i believe, every dish should have its distinct taste/flavor/sauce. Overall, it was a great dining experience after a tiring day of exploring the old town.You should also check their toilet/washroom downstairs. It's so fancy.

The last time I was in Quebec City was a year ago, and I stumbled upon La Buche quite accidentally. There are so many places to eat in Quebec City, that it was basically the one we happened upon. Boy am I glad that we happened upon it. The food was phenomenal and the prices were great! Don't get me started on the dessert because I still haven't come down from my sugar high yet!

Busy but delicious. Wide variety of options but heavy on the meat and cheese side. I had the maple french toast, delicious but definitely putting me into a bit of a sugar coma!Fast and friendly service. A lot going on in this restaurant but a solid choice, especially for brunch. Brunch served until 15:30 (3:30 pm).

Nice eclectic restaurant with local cuisine (Quebec French Canadian). Menu for lunch/supper not particularly large but enough to satisfy most tastes for this type of cooking. Lunch food was very good. However, the brunch selection is amazing and served until 1500 hrs. Had lunch this visit but would order brunch next time. Good beer, drink selection and especially good brunch adult beverages. Nice open windows to street for those lucky enough to get one of those tables. Nice covered patio out back.

This place sounded amazing for dinner, next time my husband and I venture to Quebec we have to go for dinner. JUST MAKE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION before you plan on going. This place fills up FAST! We ended up having breakfast here the next day, delicious! Hangover breakfast was a winner with endless mimosas (endless champagne really) ;)

Highly recommend this restaurant!! It’s considered an Urban Sugar Shack and it truly feels like that from the moment you walk in the door. The atmosphere is fun, a bit loud but that’s apart of the charm. Bathrooms are quite unique (bring a sharpie) and the food has been the best we’ve had in Quebec City so far. Dessert was an amazing experience with maple syrup poured over a large block of ice and we were given popsicle sticks to roll up the maple syrup. Such a fun experience!

I visited at 8 in the morning. First guest. I ordered coffee and French toast. Friendly staff, delicious food and coffee. First impression was nice. One thing that I felt sorry was that they cleaned up too soon just after I finished eating. It's a little bit sad that I felt I had been kicked out despite the fact that seats weren’t full yet. I don’t know if it is only at that time, in that situation, and to me, and they might consider my time to be wasted and be polite to me. -1. And tip written on a bill, 15% and 20%, very polite. -1. I can do math and tip is related by the service. Oh, in the review below, there were strawberries on French toast, but I received apples pickled in maple syrup. For me, not bad =) Just FYI.

Was good. Food was good. I guess my wife and I aren't that fond of French/Canadian cuisine I thought it was a little over priced but again maybe for us it wasn't worthI had the Bison skirt steak. It was cooked perfectly med-rare. My only critique would be that, the sauce and the vegetables were a little bland. Same with my wife's salmon"pie" It would have been better with a little more seasoning

This was the last restaurant we went to before our trip to Quebec ended. I ordered Mac and Cheese and let me tell ya it was the best I ever had. It was huge, it had cheese sauce, sausage and bacon. My husband ordered a shepherd’s pie, it had an unusual look, it wasn’t like the original but it was delicious too. Service was great and we ended having a delightful evening there.

Went there for breakfast and had excellent food and service. I would give the place a 5 stars if not for the bad treatment we got from the host as we went back there for dinner. He was freaking mean to us and technically kick us out for not having reservation. What an A hole!!!!

The food and service were outstanding. The portions were more than ample and very tasty. We had a wait staff that joined in the fun. The second time there they very busy and even took the time to seat us at table that was within close proximity of the kitchen and rarely used. A must do experience is the washroom.

I came to Quebec city for 1 day very last minute as my friends and I were in Montreal and they had to go back home.I came to La Buche and the food was excellent. Staff was very attentive. Everyone made sure I was treated well as a solo traveler. At brunch I told the waiter I had 30 minutes to catch my train and they got me my crepes in 10 minutes. Very good food overall. Highly recommend the meat pies, maple sugar pie, and crepes. Until next time Quebec!

Super cool decor. Waitress was kind of amazing with her ability to work the whole room. Food quirky but good. Really clever ideas. Particular treats were the pork rinds as appetizers and the desserts. I'd go back.

The French toast is highly recommended. It's a big enough portion so you can probably share it. The washrooms downstairs are so neat! Filled with writing and art all over. Definitely something worth seeing!

Food was amazing, service was good. Decore was eclectic and exactly what I'd expect to see at a family cabin.

The tables are all very large and I get the feeling this place is more suited for larger parties (4+people). I went as a couple and we were seated at the bar. The service was very quick.I ordered the smoked salmon salad and my gf ordered the ribs. The portions are generous and the food is absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend

This place deserve 5*****. The service is exceptional and the menu is like nowhere else. And the terrasse is amazing !Covid19 mesures are not in place. Tables are only 3 feet appart. Most waiters do not wear their mask properly. Supervisor goes in and out of the kitchen area without washing hands. Some cooks do not wear visors at all.

Awesome food and ambience. Best breakfast you can get in Quebec City. French toast was super!!!The ambience and music during the weekends are commendable.
